Zone: A Walking Tour

In this series Rainer has photographed the
West Berkeley area. This light industrial zone is
seen from the perspective of the pedestrian and
is an attempt to make visible relationships that we
usually might neglect such as, uneven symmetries
and the interweaving of time and place.

Anna Rainer is an artist who lives and works
in Oakland, CA. Originally from Sweden, Rainer
moved to United States in 1992. She has
exhibited extensively both nationally and
internationally, with her most recent exhibition
being at London Street Projects in Los Angeles.
She is also a member of the artist group Raketa,
which in their art installations creates situations
and finds new venues for discussion in and
around the shared public space. Raketa
participated in the Utopia Now! exhibition at
the CCAC Institute and the show will travel to
Sonoma County Museum in 2002. In 2001
Raketa exhibited at the State Art Gallery in
Kaliningrad, Russia, and participated in the
Eukabeuk event in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Rainer is represented in the collection at the
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and in
several private collections.
